Hello World!
"To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them."

Saturday in Soho...
...and West Village.
Wandered around the city with my GFs over the weekend...it was a sunny and HOT day, but I think we got some nice shots in. Here are four of my favs.

Star Light, Star Bright
This picture was taken near Provincetown, MA (top tip of Cape Cod). If you look closely, all those white dots are stars. We pulled the car over on the side of the road and placed the camera on the roof to take this amazing photo. This picture really doesn't do the sky justice...it was AMAZING. I've never seen so many stars in my life. As I stood under this magical sky I couldn't help but think how many things we take for granted in our busy lives. In NYC, people are always in a rush to get somewhere. We should all take some time to look "up" every once in a while :o)

Cape Cod
Whales are SOOO awesome. I got to see them up close on my recent trip to Cape Cod. They came up right to the boat, splashing water and making sounds. Beautiful experience.

Michelle & Akash
I had the privilege snapping pictures of Michelle and Akash. Their story is quite impressive...they've been dating for 13 years and got married on Friday! Isn't that amazing? In a world where people and relationships are constantly changing, it's nice to see stability and love that lasts through all the change.

Belize and Guatemala!
Got back from a trip to Belize and Guatemala a few weeks ago. We always say we want a "relaxing" vacation, but that never seems to happen! I'm not capable of sitting on a beach for 6 days straight (boo!) so adventure always seems to find me.
While in Belize we split up our time between San Ignacio and Ambergris Caye (island off of the coast of Belize). We stayed at a cabin in the jungle in San Ignacio and went on a 4 hour hike through a cave filled with water...definitely no relaxing there!

We climbed up a few of the Mayan ruins (one of them was close to 57 m high!)...steep/wobbly wooden steps that would NOT be legal in the US. But once you get up there, you start imagining how Mayan life was centuries ago...very cool.

Sugar Coated Central Park
I love it when it feels like I have the city all to myself. That's exactly how it felt in Central Park yesterday afternoon. I'm guessing the -10 degree windchill had something to do with a deserted Central Park :)

Flatiron Building
A friend requested a collage of all things NY, so I officially started my project over the weekend. Yes it was about 20 degrees outside and I struggled getting my settings right with my slightly oversized gloves, but it felt great to be shooting in the city again. So I was walking up from Soho and the Flatiron Building was next on my list. I got up to 22nd St. and was like what the heck? Where did the building go?? I've passed it so many times in the car and now looking ahead towards 23rd St. I didn't see it all. So then I turned around and looked up...DUH! I always thought the building was in front of me as you travel up 5th Ave...OOPs! Anyway, it was a partly cloudy day so I thought the building really stood out against the sky.

Turkish Pancakes

Ever try Turkish pancakes? They are a specialty in Turkey and these ladies are making them fresh right in the window. I had the pleasure of trying one with spinach, potatoes, and cheese and it was delicious.
